Make Your Own Mosquito Spray For Horses

A simple homemade spray can protect your horse from mosquitoes.

Pesky mosquitoes inflict us with itchy welts, but they also can spread malaria and other diseases. You wouldn't venture into mosquito-infested areas without proper protection, and neither should your horse. Mosquitoes can spread Eastern equine encephalitis, a disease that affects horses' central nervous system. You can easily protect your equine friend against mosquito-borne diseases by making an effective homemade repellent that doesn't contain harsh chemicals.

Instructions

Measure and Mix Ingredients

1. Measure each ingredient and mix all of them together in a mixing bowl.

2. Stir the ingredients.

3. Use a spray bottle to disperse the repellent.

Pour the mixture into a spray bottle.

4. Shake the bottle and spray the repellent on a small part of your horse's body, avoiding its eyes and nostrils.

5. Examine the place where you sprayed your horse after 24 hours. If the skin looks normal, without any signs of allergic irritation, spray the entire body of your horse, again avoiding its nostrils and eyes.
