Rid your home of house flies.
House flies are not only a nuisance while they are buzzing around your head, they are also carriers of germs and diseases. Insect sprays will kill the house flies, but they are not safe to use around food, children or animals. Sticky flypaper will catch some of them, but it's unattractive. Making your own fly traps is inexpensive and uses natural ingredients that are not dangerous. What's more, they can be thrown away when you are done with them. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
Milk Jug Fly Trap
1. Clean the milk jug with warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly. Cut five holes around the jug in line with the center of the handle. The holes need to be large enough for flies to enter the jug.
2. Combine 1/4 cup each of pancake syrup and apple cider vinegar and mix well. Pour the mixture into the milk jug.
3. Fill the rest of the container halfway with water. Place the lid on the jug. Place the trap in an area where the fly population is high, and replace it with a new one or empty the used one and refill it when it becomes loaded with flies.
Homemade Fly Trap
4. Poke several holes in the lid of a large glass jar, making sure the holes are large enough for flies to enter.
5. Pour 2 cups water, 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup white vinegar into the jar and mix well.
6. Place the lid on the jar and place it outdoors near a door where flies enter your home. The trap will draw flies away from your home, and entering the trap will kill them.
