Decoration Ideas For Two Toddlers In A Bedroom

Get creative when you plan bedroom decor for two children.

When you have two toddlers, sometimes it's impossible for both of them to have their own room. However, you can make sharing a room a positive experience by choosing the right decor. Even though toddlers are young, they are definitely beginning to develop their own personalities. Create a space in an area of the room for each child. Does this Spark an idea?

Decor Theme

Select a theme for the toddlers' bedroom. If the toddlers like the same thing, then you can get away with having the same theme across the entire bedroom. For example, if two toddler boys like trains, decorate the room with a train theme. However, you might have a toddler girl and boy who like completely different things sharing the same room. In that case, separate the room in half using paint. For example, paint one half blue and decorate it with a sports theme. Paint the other half pink and decorate it with a princess theme. That way, the toddlers will feel like they each have their own room.

Furniture

Many parents might be inclined to let the children share a bed, a dresser and other furniture. In a small room, you might not have another option. If you have the space, though, consider choosing different furniture for the two children. For example, select a red bed for one toddler and a blue bed for another. You could also select furniture with the same wood stain, but in different styles. Choose two dressers and other furniture pieces that you need and place them on the different sides of the room.

Entertainment

If you have two toddlers, it makes sense that they will be sharing some toys and other forms of entertainment. If you have large toys, a television or something else in the bedroom that the toddlers will be sharing, place it in a neutral area. If the room is clearly divided, place the shared items on the dividing line.

Storage

Toddlers need a lot of room for storage, what with all of their toys, clothing and other items. When two toddlers are sharing the same room, even more storage is necessary so that the space does not become cluttered. Choose storage bins to place underneath the beds. Alternatively, purchase cube-shaped shelving for each side of the room. That way, the toddlers can place items that are exclusively theirs on the shelves, and you can display other items, such as books or pictures.
