Mosquito bites itch and don't look nice.
Mosquitoes are not only annoying, their bites spread disease and leave unpleasant itchy wounds that are prone to infection. In the warmer months there are not many places without mosquitoes, so getting rid of them is always an issue. Usually they inhabit areas which are close to water, but they travel long distances. If you decide you don't want to spray around your home with chemical-based bug killer, there are a lot of other ways you can protect yourself and your family from the pests. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Place a fan on the window. Mosquitoes can only fly in still air and the fan disturbs them. Those that fly behind the fan are then sucked in and killed by the blades. Set the fan up at night, when the mosquitoes are attracted by the light from inside your home.
2. Buy a mosquito-killing lamp. Lure the mosquitoes to the light, where it is then killed by electricity. Purchase the lamp for use when camping, hanging around outside your house, but put one in your bedroom if you don't mind the sound.
3. Buy mosquito dunks and bits that carry Bacillus thuringiensis Israelensis. This bacteria, which comes in granular form or briquettes, is lethal to mosquito larvae. Put the dunks into standing water where mosquitoes lay their eggs. These dunks are completely harmless to the environment, people and all other animals. Depending on what type you get, the dunks remain effective between 24 hours and one month. Buy them in home improvement centers or order them online.
