Troubleshoot Water Foggers

Water fogger creates mist through the release of water into the air.

A water fogger is a device that produces a foggy mist. Often used for special effects and Halloween and theatrical props, the water fogger uses water to produce a foggy mist. Troubleshooting the water fogger will depend on the type of fogger you are using, but most problems can be repaired by ensuring that all the components of the fogger are properly assembled and that the fogger is clear of debris.

Instructions

1. Hold the resonator of the water fogger if it is backdrafting and loosen the holding setscrew. Move the resonator slowly away from the fogger head. Backdrafting occurs when the device is emitting mist that is leaked through its components rather than the hose inlet.

2. Tighten the setscrew. If the water fogger continues to backdraft, tighten the setscrew further until it stops. The resonator should be aligned so that the hole of the fogger head is in front of the resonator. The resonator is the long cylindrical tube that extends itself over the main body of the fogger and fogger head. The fogger head is the component which emits fog. Continue loosening and tightening the setscrew until the backdrafting stops.

3. Turn the humidifier dial to full capacity if only some of the air is coming out of the fogger assembly. This step also applies if only water is coming out of the fogger.

4. Check the fogger heads for fog and turn the control panel off if there is none. You should never disconnect the components while the fogger is still running. Disconnect the fogger head and clean it out with a cloth.

5. Turn the panel power to "On" and run the fogger unit at full capacity for a few minutes to try and flush any remaining debris in the water line.

6. Turn the power to "Off" and reinstall the fogger head assembly and turn the power on the control panel to "On."

7. Turn the control panel to "Off" if the fogger is dripping water from the head joints.

8. Remove the fogger head to expose the compression fittings. Securely tighten the male connector, which is an elbow-shaped connector device that is connected to the underside of the fogger head. Reinstall the compression fittings and fogger head.

9. Turn the panel to "On" and let the device run for a few minutes. Keep removing the compression fittings and tightening the male connector if the fogger head continues to drip water from the head joints.
