Remedies For Insect Bite On Puppies

Puppies can get bug bites that swell and itch.

Puppies who go outdoors get exposed to mosquitoes, black flies and other insects that could potentially bite them. Concerned puppy owners who find the bug bite on the puppy can help control the itching and scratching by placing home remedies on the bite.

Apply Ice Packs

Place ice in a plastic bag and wrap a towel around it to create an ice pack. Immediately placing an ice pack on the spot where the puppy received the bite will help bring the swelling from the bite down. Remove the ice pack if the puppy is wiggly and trying to get away. Replace the icepack once the puppy calms down again. The ice pack should sit on the puppy for around 10 minutes.

Wild Rosemary

Wild rosemary tablets are said to help dogs who have had bug bites, according to the Dog Naturally website. Dog Naturally recommends giving three tablets, waiting 10 minutes before giving three more tablets. The affected area should not itch or bother the puppy as much.

Baking Soda and Water

Create a paste of baking soda and water by placing 1 tbsp. of baking soda in a bowl and then slowly adding water until it becomes a paste. Apply the paste to the puppy's insect bites to help alleviate the itching and stinging sensations.

Aloe Vera Gel

Locate the area where the puppy was bitten and apply two to three drops of Aloe vera gel to the bite. Rub the Aloe vera gel into the bite with your finger. The gel will help remove the itchy feeling that a puppy can get from being bitten and it will help to heal the bug bite naturally.
