Fix Problems With My Computer Screen

Your computer screen is extremely important to your computer system because if you can't see your information, there's not much you can do. Depending on your application, you might need to have more than a viewable screen, but one with a lot of detail. Regardless of your use, however, you want the best display possible. Your screen usually can be fixed in one of a few different ways if there is a problem.

Instructions

1. Degauss the monitor. If you have an older CRT monitor, magnetic fields can mess up your picture. Push the degauss button on your monitor and this may help.

2. Check your monitor connection. Make sure the monitor is securely connected to the video card. Make sure the video card is also tightly connected to the motherboard.

3. Look at the graphic settings. Go to the graphics "Display" settings in the Control Panel. Look at the size of the screen and number of colors used. If this is set low, the picture will not display well.

4. Check the drivers. In the "Control Panel" click on "System." Click on "Device Manager" and then find the video card. Right click on the card and choose "Properties." Go to the "Driver" tab and click "Update Drivers." Reinstall the drivers or use drivers from the manufacturer's website.

5. Replace your video card, and then possibly your monitor if nothing else works. You can test with another monitor first if you have one.
