Gas grills have do-it-yourself installed thermal nut regulators.
Propane thermal nut regulators are the pressure regulators that are attached to propane devices such as gas grills and cooking stoves. Such devices are connected to a propane gas tank using the thermal nut as the attachment device. All thermal nuts are made to be installed without using tools; they are hand tightened devices that make a solid and air-tight seal between the regulator and the gas tank. Anyone with even limited DIY experience will be able to install a propane thermal nut regulator. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Turn off the propane tank. Turn the propane valve on the top of the propane cylinder in a clockwise direction to make sure that the gas is off.
2. Hold the thermal nut from the appliance gas line in one hand, while holding the regulator in the other hand. Line up the nipple inside of the thermal nut with the corresponding hole in the gas tank valve. Press them together.
3. Push the nipple into the gas valve while pressing the thermal nut against the gas valve threads. Tighten the thermal nut by hand until it reaches a full stop, while constantly supporting the regulator with the other hand.
4. Tighten the thermal nut down further one-half to three-quarters of a turn. This will make an airtight seal between the nipple and the gas valve.
