Fix A Stinger Mosquito Killer

The Stinger Mosquito Zapper takes care of these pests in your yard.

Stinger offers a wide array of bug zappers to remove mosquitoes and other flying insect pests from your yard. Stinger zappers use black light bulbs and a chemical called Octenol to lure the mosquitoes into the device. Once the mosquitoes enter the device, they are electrically shocked and they die. Periodically, Stinger mosquito zappers break down and need to be fixed and maintained. Clean and maintain the machine and bulbs for a longer lasting zapper. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Unplug the unit from the power source. If you have the unit hanging, take it down so that it can be cleaned and observed. Do not attempt to clean or fix the device while it is still plugged in.

2. Check the bulb of the zapper by turning the device upside down and opening the cap at the top of the zapper. After you open the cap, unplug the bulb with a slight pull. Inspect the bulb. Each bulb has a life of roughly 1,000 working hours, according to Kaz, Inc., the makers of Stinger Bug Zappers. If you haven't replaced the bulb in a while, put a new bulb in the zapper. Make sure the new bulb fits firmly into the connection.

3. Clean the machine using a soft brush and compressed air. Remove any insects sticking to and around the device. If the device has worked properly for any length of time, it should have killed many mosquitoes. If you have not removed the dead bugs from the machine, they may cause issues with performance as they build up.

4. Check the grids of the device. None of the grids should be touching one another. If any grids are touching, readjust them or the system will not produce any zap to kill the insects. The grids should fit snugly into their seats.

5. Plug the machine back in and test to make sure that it is working properly. If the device is still not functioning properly, contact Kaz toll-free at 1-800-477-0457.
