Fast Growing Trees In The West

When choosing trees to plant on your property, the time they take to grow is a serious consideration. Many trees take many years to mature. However, numerous species of trees that live in the West grow quickly, allowing you to benefit from their shade and beauty sooner. Does this Spark an idea?

Types

Trees found in the West and grow quickly include the sweet gum, box elder, and redwood. Not all trees grow at the same rate. Some will shoot up several feet in the span of a year, while others will gain only a few inches.

Time Frame

Redwood trees are among the fastest growers, gaining 3 to 10 feet per year. Sweet gum trees grow between 2 and 3 feet per year, while the box elder gains about 3 feet per year.

Considerations

Many of these trees grow so big that you must put thought into where you plant them. For example, the box elder can reach 65 feet. Make sure there are no power lines or other structures nearby when you choosing a spot for your tree.
