Make Screen Windows For Deck Patios

Keep bugs out with screening.

So you want to install some screening on your deck or patio. Many decks have screened-in porches that allow you to enjoy the outdoors and nature without interacting with some of nature's more pesky citizens: annoying mosquitoes and flies. Screens are light and inexpensive, and can easily be installed. Installing the screens yourself carries the advantage of being able to replace them anytime they rip or tear. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Measure the opening of your window around the outside of the frame.

2. Cut your screening to the size of your window opening using the scissors for cutting metal, but add two inches to the height and two inches to the width.

3. Hold the screening up to your window opening, centered as closely as possible on the frame. Staple each of the four corners in place, then staple all around the edges, every three or four inches. Ensure the staples are as close as possible to the edge, so that the screen can't get pulled off.
