Pond Fountain
Pond fountains add interest and beauty to your outdoor water feature. Not only does it look great, but it is also beneficial to pond wildlife. Pond fountains keep water moving which provides oxygen to promote the growth of beneficial bacteria. This beneficial bacteria provides ammonia and nitrates for fish, making them healthier. The movement of the water also prevents it from becoming a stagnant breeding ground for mosquitoes. The pond fountain kit comes with a nozzle which is the connected to a submersible pump. Different nozzles have different spray patterns depending on the type of fountain spray desired. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Purchase the pond fountain installation kit. It should include a submersible pump, tubing and pray nozzle. If you want a different spray pattern for the fountain, you may need to purchase a separate nozzle with a different pattern.
The type of kit will depend on the size of the pond where it will be installed. If installing in a large pond, the pump will need to be more powerful (high GPH or gallons per hour). If you plan to install the fountain kit in a smaller pond or water feature, the size and horsepower of the pump needed will likely be much smaller (lower GPH). See recommendations on the kit to be sure you are purchasing the appropriate kit for your pond or water feature.
2. Build up a platform with rocks in the center of the pond where you would like the pump and fountain to be. The pump must sit up off of the bottom of the pond so that it does not get clogged with debris.
3. Fasten the plastic tubing that was included in your kit onto the output tube of the pump. Use a hose clamp and a screwdriver to clamp the hose to the output tightly to prevent it from dislodging once the pump is on.
4. Attach the spray nozzle to the other end of the flexible tubing. Use another hose clamp to make sure this connection is tight as well.
5. Submerse the pump into the pond and place atop of the platform you built in step 2. The spray nozzle will float on top of the water above the pump.
6. Plug in the pump. Check to see if the pump and sprayer are working properly. If not, recheck the previous connections to be sure the tubing has not slipped off and caused a loss of suction.
