Exterminate insects with home remedies to reduce chemical exposure.
Insects in your home require extermination of the nest to prevent more from invading and spreading through different areas of your house, as well as removal of any food sources that attract the pests. Food spills, moisture or cracks can cause insects to enter your home. Keep your home clean and seal cracks to prevent more insects from coming in. While insect control sprays effectively kill bugs, they are often harmful to you, children and pets due to the toxic chemicals included in the insecticide. Natural home remedies are an alternative insecticide treatment that reduces toxic exposure and is environmentally friendly. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Mix 1 tsp. of Borax into a small bowl with 1 qt. of hot water and a cup of sugar. Dip the cotton ball in the mixture and place it in an empty yogurt container. The ants carry the mixture back to the nest, which kills them once they consume the mixture.
2. Place dry tea bags in areas the ants tend to gather, as the tea bags are a natural deterrent. Sprinkle cayenne pepper around the entry points of your home to repeal the ants.
3. Wash your clothing and bedding in hot water and laundry detergent to kill dust mites.
4. Mix 1 tsp. of dishwashing liquid in a spray bottle with hot water. Spray mixture directly on cockroaches and ants to kill them.
5. Pour 1 tbsp. of garlic juice into a spray bottle, and mix with 1 cup of hot water. Shake the bottle and spray along the windowsill to repel mosquitoes.
6. Sprinkle boric acid on the tops of your kitchen cabinets to use it as roach bait. The roaches will carry it back to the nest and eat it, which quickly kills them.
