A lot of money is spent on multivitamins, health substitutes and exercise classes in order to get healthier and fitter. However, most people tend to forget there are a lot of products in the vicinity of their households that can give a boost to their overall health, and even get rid of some diseases and ailments as well. Drinkables-Water and Milk


Experts recommend drinking at least eight glasses of water a day. Water is necessary for almost all functions of the human body, including digestion, circulation, controlling of nerves, hormones and muscles, and also absorption of nutrients. Water helps detoxification of the body as it helps eliminate waste products from the body through sweating, urination, tears, mucus and defecation. Another important drink is milk, which is the source of a vast amount of nutrients in the body, including vitamins A and B, calcium, phosphorus, carbohydrates, magnesium, zinc, riboflavin and protein. It helps in promoting good bone health, strong immunity, smooth skin and the prevention of health-related issues such as dental decay, respiratory problems, osteoporosis, hypertension, obesity and even some cancers.

Green leafy vegetables are perhaps the healthiest food items provided by nature. As they are harmless, they can be consumed in almost any amount. Fresh vegetables work wonders to provide the human body with all the needed nutrients. Green vegetables have flavonoids and different kinds of carotenoids that help in preventing several diseases including heart and vascular trouble, cancer and stroke. Cabbage, Brussels sprouts and broccoli have anti-cancer properties, and garlic is extremely healthy for the heart. Almost all fruits are also good sources of different nutrients required by the body for optimum growth, repair and maintenance.


Seasonings-Spices and Herbs


Spices not only add taste to foods, but also contribute to health. Chili peppers have capsaicin, which helps in fighting prostate cancer and ulcers, relieving pain and promoting heart health. Cinnamon is good for the arteries, and helps in managing blood sugar levels and lowering cholesterol. Parsley helps in passing kidney stones, preventing artery buildups and preventing deafness. Garlic has anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal properties that help in stopping blood clots in the arteries. Rosemary has anti-inflammatory effects that improve circulation and immunity and reduce the severity of asthma attacks. Moreover, rosemary also helps in enhancing recognition and memory.

The scent of peppermint essential oil freshens the breath, soothes nausea, stops itching and relieves overworked muscles. Lavender oil can be used undiluted, and helps in improving sleep quality, fighting urinary disorders, calming the nervous system, fighting joint pain and tackling high blood pressure, acne and breathing problems. Sesame oil is not only a great moisturizer, but also helps in lowering blood pressure and stress. Finally, rose oil improves hormonal balance, treats menopause, improves sexual health and makes the skin healthier.
